First responders and helping professionals work in demanding environments. A difficult call, an investigation, a loss or the pressures of leadership can stay with someone after the working day ends. Partners and families can carry part of that experience, too.
FRC Canada was created to offer counselling that considers the person and the professional world around them. A paramedic, firefighter, police officer, correctional officer, dispatcher or military member may bring different experiences and concerns. We want to understand those differences without assuming that everyone in the same profession has the same story.
Our clinical leadership brings experience in psychotherapy, trauma, addictions, relationships and EMDR. Jeff Kentel, MTS, MA, RP, is our Chief Clinical Officer and co-founder, a Registered Psychotherapist and an EMDR Certified Clinician. Treatment options are discussed individually, within the treating clinician’s competence and scope.
People seek counselling for many reasons, including anxiety, grief, relationship concerns and the effects of demanding work. You do not need to arrive with a diagnosis or a complete account of what has happened. Your first appointment is an opportunity to discuss your needs and consider whether the therapeutic relationship is a good fit.
We currently offer virtual psychotherapy in English to eligible clients in Ontario. Suitability, location eligibility and appointment availability are confirmed individually. You can explore services and fees, meet Jeff or book a free 15-minute new client consultation through Jane.
